Zaonezhie Boutique Hotel in Karelia

A new retreat hotel in the village of Kazhma was designed by the architecture bureau RHIZOME. All rooms and living spaces offer breathtaking views of the lake. Traditional techniques such as wooden shingles (lemekh) and «volokovye» windows were used in the facade finishes, giving the hotel an authentic appearance and emphasizing its connection to local architecture. The main construction material for the buildings is coniferous wood. The main building is located on the second line and includes a lobby, café, and yoga hall. Two guest houses are located on the first line. The house in the center of the plot is covered with a green roof, which hides it from view and harmoniously integrates it into the surrounding landscape. The second house, with a hipped roof, completes the silhouette of the entire complex.
