Pottery performance «INSIDE»
The performance «Inside» gives the viewer the opportunity to reflect on the concept of internal and external. What does it mean to be inside and what does it mean to be outside? And where the viewer chooses to be from these two states. At the same time, the artist is always inside — inside his creative process, creation, turns to his inner world. And he turns out to be «outside» only by removing the mask and seeing his viewer in the face, right in front of him.
During the performance, the artist does not create random shapes on the potter’s wheel, but it is a cylinder every time. But due to the complexity of the conditions — with eyes closed, the shape turns out to be different every time, lively, wayward. Not a perfect smooth wall, but somewhere with a wave, somewhere with a dent from the author’s finger, each time the shape comes out completely individual and unique. The shape of the cylinder itself was also chosen for a reason — this is the most basic, the very first shape, which is the basis for any further work on the potter’s wheel. When a master decides to make a bowl or a vase, or a base for further sculptural work, he will almost always start working with a cylinder. This is the foundation of the pottery art.
