British/German lighting company KAIA unveils ‘The Empyrean’, an innovative collection born from a collaboration with renowned British designer John Whelan, Founder and Creative Director of The Guild of Saint Luke (GSL). Presented within an immersive installation amidst Milan’s bustling core — the Cinque Vie district — this new collection embodies the shared commitment of both partnersе to pioneering craftsmanship and design.
‘The Empyrean’ offers a singular interpretation of lighting’s evocative and spiritual essence, fusing literal and abstract elements in a contemporary expression that draws inspiration from early Art Deco and sacred geometry.
In Christian religious cosmologies, the Empyrean was «the source of light» and where God and saved souls resided, and in medieval Christianity, the Empyrean was the third heaven and beyond «the heaven of the air and the heaven of the stars.»
An esoteric ode to light, wisdom and the sacred relationship between geometry an the cosmos, transcribed by the architect.
