Title: «Paradise»
Artist Statement: «Paradise» typically refers to an idealized state of being, a sacred space that transcends everyday life, symbolizing purity, harmony, and ultimate happiness. Within this concept, the natural history museum can be regarded as a microcosm of Paradise. In this artificially constructed space, nature is reorganized and presented; through the display of various biological specimens, geological samples, and ecosystem models, people attempt to connect with nature within the city. From Noah’s Ark, symbolizing the hope of redemption, to enclosed mountains representing nature’s isolation, I attempt to reflect on this ancient concept of Paradise and present through images a new Paradise from a postmodern perspective—a space that is both idealized and objectified. The metaphor of Paradise in contemporary times no longer points to a distant and pristine natural place, but rather a site filled with contradictions and alienation, reflecting humanity’s contemporary attempts to integrate with the natural world.
